The timeframe for an uncontested divorce in Ocean County is above average (2 – 4 months). A court appearance is required for issuance of the Judgment of Divorce. On the day of the divorce hearing your case will be called and heard by the assigned Judge. Based on my experience Ocean County judges are open to telephone appearances by clients if the client cannot attend court in person, due to military service, or in some circumstances, relocation out-of-state. After the divorce is granted the Judgment of Divorce is signed by the judge and you leave the court that day with the court sealed Judgment in your hand. A marriage certificate is not required to be produced in order to prove the existence of the marriage to the Court.
