Fast Facts About Uncontested Divorce in Monmouth County
More than 5000 divorce complaints are filed each year in Monmouth County. Residents of the counties larger townships, like Middletown, Long Branch, Neptune, and Howell file their divorce complaints at the Superior Court Clerk’s Office in Freehold, as do the residents of the smaller counties, such as Manalapan, Wall, Freehold, and Hazlet.
The Monmouth county uncontested divorce process is relatively speedy compared to other high-filing counties. I have represented clients in court who are out of town on business, and who are active duty military. As long as the court is notified in advance, and permission is requested for a client to appear telephonically, the court has generally been accommodating about telephone appearances. As is the case in almost all New Jersey counties, the divorce papers are signed by the Judge on the day of the divorce hearing, and the client receives the signed and sealed Judgment of Divorce immediately after the court proceeding is finished.
