Warren County Uncontested Divorce – Fast Facts
Warren County has a low volume of divorce filings (approximately 1000 cases each year). If you live in Warren counties larger towns such as Phillipsburg, Hackettstown, Mansfield, Blairstown, or Lopatcong, or if you reside in any of the smaller municipalities, your uncontested divorce will be filed with the Warren County Superior Court, Chancery Division Family Part located in Belvidere.
Based on my experience the timeframe for an uncontested divorce in Warren County is above average (2 – 4 months). A court appearance is required for issuance of a Judgment of Divorce. However, similar to most other New Jersey counties, a telephone appearance may be arranged if there are extenuating circumstances, such as active military duty or absence from the State of New Jersey due to relocation. The process on the day of the divorce hearing is similar to the New Jersey statewide practice, whereby the Judgment of Divorce is signed on the day of the court hearing by the Judge, and then provided to you after the hearing. Warren County judges do not require presentation of a marriage certificate in order to grant the divorce.
It should be noted that at least one of the Warren County Family Part judges requires that the child support worksheet and child support order be completed and brought to court on the day of the hearing. So if you have children both the worksheet and order should be completed in advance of your court date.
The Judges of the Warren County, Superior Court, Family Part are:
- Hon. Margaret Goodzeit, J.S.C.
- Hon. Kimarie Rahill, J.S.C.
- Hon. Anthony F. Picheca, Jr., J.S.C.
The location of the Warren County Child Support Office Address is 413 Second Street, P.O. Box 900, Belvidere, New Jersey 07823
